An award winning musician from North Tyneside has turned her passion for music into a business that teaches and inspires others in the borough.
23 year old Jenny Gilberg, a steel pan player from North Shields is a classically trained musician who has turned her musical talent into a business that allows her to tutor aspiring musicians as well as perform across the country at weddings, corporate events and private functions.
An
award winning soloist and a member of the North Tyneside Steel Band since the
age of 12, Jenny has many years of experience tutoring and leading workshops
with bands, schools, disability organisations and the wider public at all ages
and abilities.
Her love and talent for music and experience of teaching others led Jenny to consider starting her own business and she came to The Business Factory to find out what her next steps should be.
The Business Factory, based on High Street West in Wallsend, is North Tyneside Council’s one-stop shop for budding entrepreneurs to get all the advice and support they need.
At The Business Factory Jenny met Business Adviser George Wafer who helped her to secure a business start up grant from North Tyneside Council that enabled her to buy her first set of steel pans. Using these instruments to establish a customer base Jenny has gone on to buy more steel pans so that the business can continue to grow.
Jenny is now working throughout Tyneside and Northumberland both tutoring and performing, for more information visit: http://www.jennygilberg-steelpan.co.uk.
